Laurel Studio is a cultural skincare experience space located in Hongdae, Seoul.
It is not a place that simply offers facial treatments, but a space operated with the purpose of providing a skincare experience based on Korean lifestyle and relaxation culture. The studio was designed so that international visitors can understand and experience Korean culture and K-Beauty while traveling in Korea.
The most distinctive feature of Laurel Studio is its skincare environment that applies ondol, Korea’s traditional residential heating system. Unlike typical aesthetic salons that use treatment beds, guests receive skincare treatments while lying on a warm ondol floor. This reflects the traditional way Koreans have rested and recovered in daily life for generations. The treatment process is not just a cosmetic procedure, but a time to experience Korea’s culture of rest and relaxation.
Before beginning the skincare treatment, the program prioritizes physical and mental relaxation. Rather than starting treatment immediately, guests are guided through a process that allows the body to relax through warmth, calm breathing, and a quiet environment. This structure is based on the understanding that skin condition is closely connected to overall physical and emotional balance.
Laurel Studio operates two personalized skincare programs. The Premium Personalized Care is a 60-minute program, while the Basic Personalized Care is a 40-minute program. Both programs are designed based on the individual guest’s skin condition and overall state, focusing on understanding the skin rather than producing short-term visual improvements.
Only Korean aesthetic skincare products are used during the treatments. The programs are composed entirely of products developed and distributed in Korea. After the treatment, guests are provided with skincare guidance suited to their skin condition and the Korean climate. The recommended products are items that can be easily purchased at Olive Young or local pharmacies, allowing international visitors to naturally continue skincare shopping during their trip and experience authentic K-Beauty in daily life.
The space itself includes cultural experience elements. The waiting area features exhibitions of works by Korean artists, allowing guests to experience Korean contemporary art before and after their treatment. The space is designed so that skincare and cultural appreciation flow together as one continuous experience.
To accommodate international visitors, multilingual guide cards are available. The treatment process, skincare concepts, and aftercare instructions are provided in a way that minimizes language barriers, allowing guests unfamiliar with Korean skincare to participate comfortably.
